PREDO: After months of contract talks you've decided to defend your Predo crown and not jump ship to Allan Stanford's Predo Series. Was there really any doubt that you'd be back?
JUDE: I can't deny it there were a lot of offers: all the big Spanish predos, the Italians were sniffing about, Predo Saint Germain, but I told my agent I wanted to stay and to get the deal done. I wanna build a legacy, I'm not saying statues but maybe a Predo named after me and statues. That kind of thing.
PREDO: In the pre-predo profiles we've uncovered a lot of animosity aimed toward you. What do you have to say to those critics?
JUDE: You know it's tough to be a big fish in a small pond, a shark in a sea of tiddlers, a Captain Birdseye in an ocean of humble Grimsby fisherfolk, you're there to be shot at. But I try to take it all in my stride. Comes with the job. And the trophies. And the countless victories. I try to keep it humble. As Steve Archibald said "If you must win, win well". And I do.
PREDO: Your form has been patchy ahead of the World Cup, with the Dutch winning the U-17 Euros despite your prediction that they have no future as a footballing force. Is it a case of peaking for the big games, or are there issues going into the tournament?
JUDE: Nobody can predict everything. As my mentor Steve Archibald once said to me "Jude, nobody can predict everything". There's always going to be minor defeats on the way to major victories. Or, if you are Dutch, which thankfully I am not, minor victories on the way to major defeats.
PREDO: Fans will want a real answer from you Jude, you're a role model to a lot of people.
JUDE: Yes, yes, you're right of course, it's not just children, spiritual leaders and the poor who look up to me, but my competitors and to you and them I say this: Fear not. I will lead you home. I will be substantially ahead of you but nonetheless, I will lead you.
PREDO: Now, I know predoing is a way of life for you and not just a 9-5 job, so could you offer us a prediction on this weekend's Champions League (complete with scorer)?
JUDE: I was going to say that Liverpool would do a 9-5 job on Real Madrid but that would be glib and as my mentor Steve Perryman once said to me "Never be glib when you can be humble". And so, I predict a 5-1 Liverpool win. 3 for my good personal friend Mo Salah (he is a fine amateur Predoer himself), and two for the lovely Sadio Mane. No predictor worth his salt would bet against Ronaldo in a final, so the one is for him.
PREDO: can we narrow this to one scorer, as per the familiar Predo Thomas/Day Riley rule set?
JUDE: Firminio.
PREDO: Finally, Jude, are there any individuals in the World Cup Predo field that you're particularly worried about?
You missed a video chat with Jude.
10:05
PREDO: No thanks, Jude, Predo does not video chat.
JUDE: Well I'm very worried about poor Brendan. The pressure seems to get to him. Perhaps he's just not ready for this level. I'm also worried about Sam and Speedie. Has their time passed? Probably. Legends Predo is an option for them with its older, faded, balding talents like Benno.
PREDO: Thank you Jude. We look forward to the tournament starting with you in it.
JUDE: Thanks Predo, I mean this sincerely: may the best predictor win. And if we could get the trophy and prize money to the winner a bit more quickly this time, that would be great.
