Rules after the cut
THE BASICS
Predictions shall be made as follows
TEAM A 3 - 2 TEAM B (one goalscorer)
Points will be awarded as follows:
- 6 for correct scoreline.
- 3 for correct result.
- 1 for correct amount of goals on one side.
- 2 if your named goalscorer scores.
EXAMPLES
based on EURO 2016 FINAL (POR 1 - 0 FRA, Eder scored)
PREDICTION: POR 2 - 0 FRA (Ronaldo)
- +3 for correct result
- +1 for correct amount of goals on one side (FRA 0)
= 4pts
PREDICTION: POR 1 - 3 FRA (Eder)
- +1 for correct amount of goals on one side (POR 1)
- +2 for goalscorer
= 3pts
KNOCKOUT STAGE SUPPLEMENTARY
- penalties should not be factored into your predo
- predo counts until the end of traditional football is completed, be that 90 minutes or 120 minutes.
- a game going to penalties means the predo panel declares game a DRAW.
JOKERS
- two jokers will be issued per competitor; one for the group stages and one for the knockout rounds
- to play your joker, simply write JOKER after your predo
- joker will grant double points for that predo
- unplayed jokers will roll over to the last fixture in that period (group stage = SEN vs. COL, knockout stage = FINAL) and be played automatically
POSTING YOUR PREDICTIONS
Ideally your predictions will appear in a created thread on the WORLD CUP PREDOS 2018 facebook group for that day of matches. The thread will be created as soon as a gameday is completed to give maximum time to post your predos. Predictions posted in the game thread will be considered your final and most important prediction.
However, with multiple games per day and many predo competitors having full and busy lives, the PREDO PANEL have decided to incorporate new technologies to ensure everybody has a predo per game.
A form will be issued to every predo competitor to fill in the group stage predos in advance. Should a competitor be unable to make a prediction in time, their prediction from the advance form will count as their predo. However, competitors are not tied to their advance prediction and can make a predo on the day based on form and selection.
Goalscorers cannot be predicted more than a day in advance owing to selection issues. If you do not predict a scorer on the day then the dice will be brought into play.
Additionally, should any forms remain unfilled and predictions on the day unmade, dice will be rolled for that person's predo.
This works as follows:
- DIE roll for team A score (1-4, 5 = nil, and 6 is roll again)
- DIE roll again for team B score.
- DIE roll for team of scorer (low = Team A, high = Team B)
- first DIE roll for scorer (omitting keeper, low = players 1-5 according to BBC teamsheet, high = players 6-10)
- DIE roll for scorer 1-5, 6 = roll again
Here is an example of a DICE prediction for Euro 2016 final
- DIE roll for team A score = 2
- DIE roll for team B score = 3
- DIE roll for team of scorer = 4 (high, so FRA)
- DIE roll for scorer = 1 (low, so players 1-5)
- DIE roll for scorer 1-5 = 5, so PAUL POGBA
DICE predo is POR 2 - 3 FRA (Pogba)
DICE scores 0 points.
DIE roll will be made during or after the games.
Once again, the order of importance of predos
1st - predictions made on gameday in thread
2nd - predictions made on advance sheet
3rd - predictions made by DICE
APPEALS
Mistakes are inevitable and it is up to the competitors to ensure their tally is accurate. Reasonable grounds for complaint are available. Upon consideration, all decisions made by the Predo Panel are final.
FAQ
I predicted 0-0 but, in order to hedge my bets, predicted a goalscorer. Is this allowed?
Yes. However, you will be stopping yourself from scoring the maximum points. But this is entirely legal predo play.
I predicted a score, but not a scorer. What happens?
The dice will predict your scorer from the players named on the teamsheets.
I predicted a scorer, but they did not play. What happens?
The dice will predict a new scorer from the players named on the teamsheets.
I predicted a scorer. They did not start, but then came on. What happens?
Your predo stands.
So if I pick a scorer in the morning and then I am watching the game and notice that they are not starting, can I change my scorer?
Yes. You can change any aspect of your prediction as long as that game has not kicked off. You may edit the FB post or reply in thread with a new prediction.
What if someone edits their post during the game?
They will be banned.
