Nearing the naked arse of the end of predoland for another two years, we consult the literary greats once more:
"The greatest mistake any man ever made is to suppose that the good things of the world are not worth the winning."
Anthony Trollope, Barchester Towers (1857)
Apart from David "Manager" Wilson, we can certainly say this mistake has not been made by our crop of intrepid predoers this year. All have struggled, but only one may win. But who?
The first semi-final, between France and Belgium, saw no OCHOs played and a mostly split field that would see many mid-ranked players slide down or climb up the table. Credit to Zaireeka for outscoring his fellow contestants here with a well-played six pointer.
Only Benno scored an OCHO on Croatia versus England, thus incurring the partisan wrath of his fellow contestants. As a predo player first and an England fan second, Predo warmly congratulates Benno on his bravery. Not that his bravery is met with rewards so shallow; from outside the top 10, Benno's powerplay sees him leap into the top five.
Only three can win World Cup Predo. Randy can tie Brendan for first on points, but Brendan would win the tiebreaker on OCHOs scored through the tournament. Sam and Zaireeka are second and third respectively.
Here are the standings with two matches to play. Jokers played are in bold.
